Dr CT Muthuvel and Toh Wee Leng Aryn

Dr. CT Muthuvel:
I am 65 years old. My passion was to become a very successful entrepreneur. Exports and imports are my interested business line. I was eager to give employment opportunities to the youngsters. Earning more and helping the needy people was my ambition.
I was a professor of Business Administration. I taught graduate and postgraduate students. I took care of all the students and helped them to score high marks with suitable materials and guidance. I did my masters in Business Administration. I have a Ph.D. in Export Marketing.
Tennis is my favourite game. I have played for our college team as well as our Town Tennis Club. I have participated in many competitions and won prizes. During my college days I played for more than 5 hours in the evening with experienced players in the Town Club at my native place in India.
I am a lover of melodious music. I like old songs from the sixties. The famous singers of Tamil movies in the 60s are interesting to listen. I used to sing those songs. Gardening is another good hobby of mine. I was interested and maintained edible plants at our house garden in India.
I like traditional Chettinadu recipe cuisine. Pratta and curry are my favourite food. I like idly, dosai, Briyani. I like both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. In fast food I like McDonald's chicken burger, French fries, and hot milo. I have faith in God. Every day I pray in my house Pooja room and often visit Hindu temples.
Too Wee Leng Aryn:
I am a 23 years old person who is more into the creative side of things. I started off with just randomly doodling on paper and I moved on to assisting my cousin in completing his drawing homework from LASALLE College Of The Arts at the age of 14 when I realised that I really like art. That is when I worked really hard to finally get myself a place in LASALLE College Of The Arts after my O'levels examination at the age of 16.
Although many did not approve my decision in completing my diploma at LASALLE College Of The Arts rather than a government polytechnic, I still persevered and ignored the comments that others had been making along the way. I eventually graduated with a diploma in Design Communication from LASALLE College Of The Arts in 2018 while working part time throughout the whole of 3 years to be able to afford the tuition fees.
Although many have chosen to pursue the arts path, not many can accept arts students. I was rejected several times by universities and even companies due to my “unique” diploma. Many expected a local polytechnic diploma in a more professional field as compared to an arts diploma from LASALLE College Of The Arts or NAFA. Accepting negative comments from others became a new norm to art students like myself as the elders deemed arts students as people that can never make big money.
Other than drawing and designing, I like singing too. I was nominated by my music teacher to form a band in school during secondary 3. My band consists of 8 members and was named "8 O'clock". We would often stay back after school for band practices and were asked to perform on Teachers’ Day and school carnival/open house. I was one of the three lead singers of the band and I really enjoyed my time with my band.
Despite all odds, I was really thankful that I have supportive parents who were willing to help me out when I faced challenges while trying to complete my tertiary education. “Pursue your passion and you will go to sleep feeling excited to start the next day.". This quote is something that I really believe in even until now. It really doesn't matter if we are doctors, businessmen, lawyers, janitors, or artists and designers, as long as we are doing what makes us happy, others' opinions about us really don't matter that much at all.
